The Avalon Luminary, coming in 2010, is the latest addition to the Avalon Waterways river cruising fleet, with a design that reflects the uniqueness of the area, and which differentiates her from the other Avalon river cruise vessels. Carrying a maximum of just 138 passengers with four suites & 65 staterooms, she will be the smallest of the Avalon ships, yet the Avalon Luminary staterooms are equally spacious and well appointed, with floor-to-ceiling windows on two decks. Staterooms feature a minimum of 172 square feet of space and are the largest of the European rivers today. In addition, there is an elevator, and the whirlpool on the Sky Deck allows for a refreshing dip after a day of sightseeing.

Stateroom amenities include: Flatscreen satellite TV & radio, private bathroom with shower, comfortable hotel-style beds, European-style duvets, Egyptian super-combed cotton linens, large closets, minibar, hairdryer & safe, and individual climate control.

Ship amenities include: non-smoking interior, internet access & Wi-Fi hotspots, onboard activities & nightly piano music, hair salon, fitness center, lounge & bar, complimentary coffee & tea available throughout the day, fine dining, and complimentary wine, beer or soft drinks will be included on all onboard dinners.

Category Descriptions:

Category E- These cabins are located on the lowest passenger deck. They have oversized rectangular port holes which sit just above water level since the ships berth lightly in water. On some occasions the water level can rise several inches above the bottom of the window (especially when the ship goes thru locks).

Category B & A-These cabins are located one passenger deck from the category E cabins. These cabins are a good distance from the water level so water never goes that high. These cabins have floor to ceiling French doors/sliders as well as a French Balcony. The balconies are narrow balconies outside the French doors and are not wide enough to sit on. They do provide lots of light, air and fabulous views. Category A is located a little more mid-ship than the Category B cabins.

All cabins mentioned above are approximately 180 sq feet in size.
