Antietam National Battlefield
The Bloodiest One Day Battle in American History

23,000 soldiers were killed, wounded or missing after twelve hours of savage combat on September 17, 1862. The Battle of Antietam ended the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia's first invasion into the North and led to Abraham Lincoln's issuance of the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation.

Explore the museum exhibits in the visitor center, view the 26-minute introductory film "Antietam Visit" and browse the Museum Store.

Nat'l Museum of Civil War Medicine
The National Museum of Civil War Medicine is the premiere repository of exhibits and artifacts devoted to the technological and procedural advances made in the medical field between 1861-1865. These changes occurred in the midst of tremendous social and economic upheaval. The Museum is committed to effectively weaving the narrative of suffering soldiers, caregivers, their families and the dramatic and innovative developments in medical treatment. The Museum utilizes its collection to heighten public awareness of the modern medical practices that originated on the battlefields and in the hospitals of this once-divided country.

The museum in Frederick includes 7000 square feet of exhibit space spread over two floors, featuring immersion exhibits and interactive displays. Fully accessible.

Brewer's Alley
Brewer's Alley, Frederick's first brewpub, is proud to have made its home in one of the city's earliest and most important structures.

The building was raised in 1769 to accommodate Frederick's first Town Hall and Market House. It served its purpose for more than 100 years and was witness not only to the birth of the city of Frederick, but also the Civil War, including the ransoming of the city by Confederate General Jubal Early. As Frederick grew and prospered into the 20th century, the location functioned as government offices, then an opera house and theatre.

Brewer's Alley continues its efforts to preserve the architecture of this fine building; a vital link to Frederick's past.

Banquet room is on 2nd floor but there is an elevator.

Menu choices are:
Bistro Steak
Chicken Parm
Grilled Salmon

Gettysburg National Military Park
The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory in the summer of 1863 that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Confederacy", it was the war's bloodiest battle with 51,000 casualties. It also provided President Abraham Lincoln with the setting for his most famous address.

"A New Birth of Freedom" Film
