Grand Illumination at Colonial Williamsburg
The Grand Illumination is a magnificent fireworks display that takes place simultaneously at three locations in the Historic Area of Colonial Williamsburg heralding the start of the holiday season.

(The fireworks are coordinated at the Governor's Palace, The Capitol and the Magazine. The best place to stand is at the Magazine area so all 3 venues can be seen).

Bring a small blanket and dress warm.

*Advise pax that there is walking in the historic area. The guide is with the passengers for 3 hours, but passengers do not have to participate in the whole tour & can break off from the group if they wish.




Colonial Williamsburg
Colonial Williamsburg is a historic site of 173 acres, featuring preserved and restored buildings surviving from the era when Williamsburg was capital of the Virginia Colony and a gathering place for the leaders of the American Revolution.

The Historic Area is open every day of the year and Costumed interpreters bring to life the residents of this 18th century town.

Admission includes a guided tour with access to the Historic Area including the Capitol, Governor's Palace & Museums.

Colonial Christmas Dinner at the Boxwood Inn
Enjoy a Historical Colonial Christmas Dinner Menu with special Colonial Christmas themed entertainment at the Boxwood Inn, a 19th Century antebellum mansion. Upon arrival, group will be given a guided tour of the two-story Southern home. Dinner will be served in one of the four dining rooms. Group will have a sit-down, candlelight, 3-course meal.

Before there was "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire", America's hearty colonists still celebrated the joyous holiday. Be part of the Doorway Singers as they share some of the songs that where part of an earlier time in America - "Joy to the World", "Deck the Halls" and many more, including the very popular "Wassail" songs. It's another warm view of Christmas in America.

Celebration in Lights
Light up your holidays with Celebration in Lights, a 2-mile drive-through spectacular with animated scenes set in Newport News Park. A dozen theme areas present traditional holiday scenes with animation, archways & freestanding pieces rising 30 ft. into the sky. Over 650,000 lights illuminate the beauty of Newport News Park's forests, fields & ponds in this, Virginia's longest running drive-through light event.



Berkeley Plantation
Berkely is the most historic plantation on the James River. It is the site of the first official Thanksgiving in America. Berkeley is the birthplace of Benjamin Harrison V, signer of the Declaration of Independence and of William Henry Harrison, 9th President of the US. "Taps" was composed at Berkely when Gen. George McClellan headquartered Union troops here in 1862.
