Experience Hands-On Glassmaking at The Corning Museum of Glass. Professional glassmakers guide you through the interactive workshop.

Fuse a Suncatcher
You'll start by creating a design using colored frit (small chunks of glass), thin glass strings, and larger glass pieces. Museum staff will provide glass in a variety of colors and shapes for you to arrange in your design. Using non-toxic glue, you'll secure your design in place, and professionals will heat the piece in the kiln oven overnight. The glass fuses together to create a single piece of glass.

Your suncatcher will be ready to take home the following day!

Glenn H. Curtiss Museum
The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum, bears the name of pioneer aviator and Hammondsport's favorite son. Dedicated to the memory of Glenn Hammond Curtiss, the museum contains a priceless collection relating to early aviation and regional history. In addition to seeing the museum displays and exhibits, visitors are welcome to visit the Restoration Shop, talk with volunteer craftsman and watch them work on historic aircraft.
