Guided "Brandywine Tour" of Hagley Museum
Situated on 235 picturesque acres along the Brandywine River, the Hagley Museum is the birth site of the DuPont Company. Among industrial ruins and restorations, today's park-like museum depicts home and work life in a 19th-century industrial community.

The Brandywine Tour visits Eleutherian Mills, the original (1803) home to five generations of the Du Pont family, with its restored 19th-century French-style garden and the First Office of the DuPont Company. A second stop is made at either the Powder Yard, where demonstrations show the harnessing of water power, or the Visitor Center, where models and exhibits describe early industry along the Brandywine and the development of the DuPont Company.

Winterthur Tour
Almost 60 years ago, collector and horticulturist Henry Francis du Pont (1880-1969) opened his childhood home, Winterthur, to the public. Today, Winterthur (pronounced "winter-tour") is the premier museum of American decorative arts, with an unparalleled collection of nearly 90,000 objects made or used in America between about 1640 and 1860. The collection is displayed in the magnificent 175-room house, much as it was when the du Pont family lived here, as well as in permanent and changing exhibition galleries.

Winterthur is set amidst a 1,000-acre preserve of rolling meadows and woodlands. Designed by du Pont, its 60-acre naturalistic garden is among America's best, with magnificent specimen plantings and massed displays of color.

Enjoy the Garden Tram where you can sit back & let the tram guide you throughout the garden. (Tram is subject to weather conditions.)

All of Winterthur's exhibition galleries are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are available at no cost.
