Squam Lake Cruise
Enjoy a wonderful cruise on Squam Lake, home of the movie "On Golden Pond."
Learn about the natural history of the lake, the wildlife that makes Squam so special, and the people who have enjoyed these lakes for over 5,000 years. You may even catch a glimpse of the Common Loons and Bald Eagles that are regularly seen here.
Your cruise is on a canopied, heated pontoon boat.
Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train
Enjoy a scenic dinner train ride along the fields and forests of the Pemigewasset River and travel through the award winning Jack O'Lantern Golf Resort in the heart of the White Mountain Region of New Hampshire.
Ride in the "Granite Eagle" one of three beautifully restored Pullman dining cars while enjoying four courses of fine food served to you in the Grand European manner.
As dinner is served, period music keeps time with the rail's rhythmic rumbling, punctuated by the haunting wail of the engine's whistle.
After dinner, with the compartment lights down low and the dramatic sunset outside your window, you may allow yourself a wistful romantic journey back in time, and you might wish the evening would never end.
Total experience is two-hours and 20 miles roundtrip.
Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad
Enjoy a nostalgic scenic excursion along the shores of the lake as we travel between Meredith and Lakeport, always within view of the water. The railroad line was built in 1849 which was well before any development occured on the then remote lake. We travel through the front yards of many of the fine resort homes.
Weirs Beach was a busy summer resort with many fine "Grand Style Hotels" lining the shore of the lake. The railroad was once a part of the Boston & Maine Railroad that brought tourists to the lake for summer vacations from the late 1890s to the 1950s.
White Mountains Visitor Center
Enjoy free time at the White Mountains Visitor Center. While you're here, take a few minutes to visit the Gift Shop; it's a perfect place to pick up a souvenir of your vacation. And check out the new White Mountains Interpretive Center in the attached authentic post and beam barn; you'll learn a little bit about everything from the area's wildlife to building stone walls.
